Get to Know Our Doulas

Hi, I'm Katie

I'm a birth doula in the Utah County, Salt Lake County, and Juab areas.
I'm also a doula mentor and the founder of Freya Birth.

My own motherhood journey began in Stuttgart Germany in 2015. My first birth was a challenge for me, one which I was unprepared to meet and it was not easy. I walked away feeling disappointed in my body, and confused as to why I had “failed” so miserably. Those difficulties motivated me to make some changes. The next time I was pregnant, I took a birth preparation course and felt like my eyes opened to a whole new world. I prepared and researched whole-heartedly and I rocked that birth and it was truly transformative. I walked away feeling powerful and strong. This experience inspired me to become a birth worker and help women put their feet on the path to a powerful, positive birth.

Since becoming a doula in 2017 I have birthed two more babies, my third was in a birth center and my fourth at home. Each of those births was both challenging and marvelous. I learned a tremendous amount about myself, including how to be more embodied and mindful. Those experiences plus the 130+ births that I have attended as a doula have taught me that there is no one size fits all. Your birth is as unique as you are! I customize my care around your vision, hopes, expectations, personality, and relationship with your other support people. Birth can be such a catalyst for growth and self-discovery and my passion is facilitating that journey.

I am a ravenous learner especially from books, some of my passion topics beyond pregnancy, birth and motherhood are psychology, self-help, mindset, and anything written by Brandon Sanderson. I am also always learning about new holistic modalities, healing remedies, nutrition, non-toxic, intentional living, and gentle parenting. Each of these topics are a journey of their own and it feels deeply empowering to me the more I learn. I love sharing all that I am learning with my clients, while also bringing compassion and non-judgment as we each take the steps that feel right for our families one at a time.

What I'll Bring to Your Birth Journey

Birth is a tremendous and transformative labor of love, ripe with both challenges and rewards. I believe in the immense power of a positive birth experience that empowers women and men to begin parenthood with joy and confidence. My goal is to help parents create positive memories of birth, regardless of the challenges that arise. I approach being a doula with a dedication to working openly with the unique perspective, abilities, challenges, and needs of laboring mothers and their support team.

A mark of someone who is truly passionate about their work is continuing education.

I invest a lot of my time and resources in specialized trainings and reading books about pregnancy, birth, postpartum and new parenthood. I work very hard to balance research and intuition in all my approaches and understand how best to emotionally support mothers in all situations. I pledge to continue to do so!

I’m located in Spanish Fork and currently offering birth services in the Utah County, Salt Lake County, and Juab County areas. I travel anywhere from Salt Lake City to Nephi and out to Heber (weather permitting).

Investment begins at $2000. I price my services uniquely for returning clients, out of hospital births, and special situations (depending on the circumstances).  Payment plans are available, and I also consider partial bartering and trade agreements.
Let me know if you want to discuss details on those options.
