About the Doula

I'm Katie

Doula, mother, & Friend

I have 3 children and each of their births has had a tremendous influence on my life, leading me on the path to realizing my passion for empowering mothers on their own journeys. I truly believe motherhood was made to help us to grow and thrive and wish to help my clients to FIND themselves through the whole adventure.

I love reading, especially books related to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Some of my other passion topics are psychology, self-improvement, trauma, and sustainable business. Give me a book, a warm cup of tea, fuzzy socks, and a cuddly blanket and I am a happy camper.

I have an extensive Lending Library of books available to my clients free of charge, click here to check it out.

My own motherhood journey took place in Stuttgart Germany. My first birth was a challenge for me, one which I was unprepared to meet and it was not easy. I walked away feeling disappointed in my body but happy to be a mother. Those difficulties motivated me to make some changes. The next time I was pregnant, I took a birth preparation course and gained some tools for labor. I rocked that birth and it was truly transformative. I walked away feeling powerful and strong. This experience inspired me to become a birth worker and help women put their feet on the path to a powerful, positive birth.

Testimonials

I hired Katie for my first pregnancy and I could not have made a better choice. I was very nervous about my pregnancy because I am single and also have been diagnosed with PTSD. When I met Katie I immediately felt a great connection and that she would be invaluable throughout my pregnancy experience. I was right, I can’t recommend her enough. I went into my labor feeling supported and prepared and I had an amazing experience with Katie right there with me. I loved being able to text or call her with any of my concerns, especially since I didn’t have a partner or traditional support. She was calm and patient during my unmedicated labor and delivery (even when I was yelling at everyone in the delivery room). If you are considering a doula or if you’re curious about the process, I highly recommend at least talking with Katie to see if she is a good fit for you.

Katie helped me bring my fourth baby into the world and I couldn’t have asked for a better doula! From the start I felt a real connection with her. During the two visits she really learned what I wanted to achieve, helped me prepare for the things I was scared of or worried about, and gave my husband lots of good tips on new ways to support me. She is a wealth of knowledge and shared so many things with me that truly opened my eyes about our bodies and the birthing experience. During my labor she did everything to make me as comfortable as I wanted. She helped me maintain my voice with the staff, made sure I knew all of my options, and provided information when I was unable to speak for myself. She reminded me of how strong I am especially during transition when I felt like giving up. She made this my best birth experience yet by giving me the tools I needed to be comfortable, confident, and have trust in my body and that it knows what it needs. I will be recommending her to everyone and if this wasn’t our last I would without a doubt be inviting her to be a part of my birth team again.

Katie Förster: where do I start? She has the ability to connect with anyone, from the moment she first meets them. People are drawn to her. She is so knowledgeable about birth and the postpartum period and is always striving to expand her skill-set. Any mother would be so lucky to work with Katie.

Katie was simply amazing! As a birth photographer, I have been able to watch and document MANY doulas in action, so I was very excited to hire Katie, as I was confident in her knowledge and care. She kept in contact with me throughout my whole pregnancy and was there for me via text during a whole WEEK of prodromal labor when things were start and stop. When I finally decided it might be time to go to the hospital, she came down and supported me through a fast and extremely INTENSE labor. She reminded me to breathe, which was HUGE for me. But she also helped me visualize so I could bring my sweet babe earth side! I’m so happy I decided to hire her for my birth and don’t regret a single thing. She was a phenomenal presence in my birth space.

I absolutely loved having Katie on my birth team, she made all the difference in my birth experience. Although my birth experience was traumatic, I don’t have any of the lasting effects of the trauma because Katie was by my side the entire time. She guided me through each twist and turn and filled me with affirmations that made me feel like I was still in control and handling the situation with grace. I felt like she was extremely knowledgable and a great resource. She is a compassionate and kind person and I genuinely value the relationship we formed through her prenatal visits, my birth, and our postpartum visits.

I have had several doulas for various births and Katie really is the best out there. Not only has she done so many trainings and attended so many births, but she really tailors her approach to each client. She goes above and beyond providing comfort measures and really helps you think through the type of support you would like for any type of birth. Katie's perspective of birth as a time of transformation is so valuable and she's able to hold space for both the magic and the raw hard moments. I felt so safe with her and so connected to her. She guided me through difficult emotions and thought processes and grounded me during transition when everything felt like too much. Next time I'm pregnant I will book her again in a heartbeat.

Katie completed my mentoring program and thoroughly impressed me. She is organized, knowledgable, compassionate, intuitive, and experienced. Having taken an extra step to go through an additional mentoring program makes her an even sharper doula. She knows how to bring the most crucial information to her clients to help them make informed decisions for their birth. She communicates well throughout the process and is respected in our doula community. I’ve seen her other clients praise her and I am confident in recommending her!

Katie provided postpartum services after the birth of my third child. She is so compassionate and knowledgeable. She showed my fun new ways to interact with my newborn and also showed me some great products to use during the different stages of my baby’s development. Beyond her birth/postpartum services, Katie is knowledgeable in lactation support and basic troubleshooting with feeding and latch issues. I’ve been very happy with my decision to hire Katie for postpartum support. I’ve felt supported and befriended, and it’s made my postpartum period less lonely and less isolating than with my previous births. In turn, it’s made my postpartum depression and anxiety much less severe.

Katie has a lot of great qualities that make her an exceptional doula. She’s confident, assertive, down to earth, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
